394 weeks remaining....

Well at 394 weeks we are basically in the same boat. Looking to rid ourselves of belongings and really think through the reality of giving up our home and lifestyle. Saving money is getting a little easier, but still is challenging.  It will be much easier when we don't have a place to put all the crap we buy. Looks like we want to move up the date but I'm a little scared to go too early and be without a job for too many years before being eligible for Social Security.  But so far we are on track.

Encouraging comments welcome.

  1. You really do have the right priorities in place...financial security is so important. And being debt free. We too, retired quite early and even though we have a decent amount of money we are always thinking about how long that money has to last. The good thing is you don't have to adjust that date until you feel truly secure in doing so. One day at a time...

    1. Thanks Lisa! I'm glad I have so much time to plan this all out.

  2. Getting caught up with your posts. Your budget looks good. The more you boondock, the more you can save there. A 30' fiver with w/d you probably won't find and why would you want a w/d with the boondocking you'd like to do? You can go to a Laundromat and in less than two hours get 2-3 loads done (bedding, towels, clothes). Storage is more important than the W/D and the dryer in those combos are energy hogs. Ok... my two cents :-) Oh, and we love our 31' fiver. We fit places the bigger rigs can't.

  3. I agree with lvielaughrv. I just go to the laundromat and get everything done in an hour and a half and I don't have to worry about all the electric and water involved. Just get er done. Start thinking like you are living in 300 square feet. When you see something you just have to have - ask yourself where it is going to fit in that amount of space. Also slowly start doing that at home. We had friends who actually "lived" in one bedroom, the kitchen and the bathroom in their house as they got rid of stuff. Sure worked for them.

    1. I might consider that Sandie. My house is not much bigger than 1000 square feet so that wont be so hard. Just gotta get rid of some junk.

  4. I just found your blog and you have done a good job of sharing, asking, formulating and keeping me interested. I am about a year and a half from retirement, April 1, 2016. You have inspired me to start a blog on our journey to full-timing. Like you, I have read many bloggers on full-timing but you are the first on pre-retirement.
Would you share how you got started blogging. How is powered, did you choose a theme template, do you have a domain, who is hosting it, how much does it cost, is it retainable for the next 20 years, if you were to do it over, what would you do different???
